Privacy Policy — Writeouts
What this app does
Writeouts lets you capture doubts or questions, track your progress clearing them, and optionally send a doubt to an AI assistant of your choice.
Data we collect and why
Account information (optional)
If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and display name from Google Sign-In. You may also use the app as a guest (anonymous), in which case no personal account information is collected or linked to your identity.
Doubts you enter
The text of doubts you type or dictate is stored in Cloud Firestore (Google Firebase), associated with your account (anonymous or Google). This data is visible only to you. We do not use your doubt content for training, advertising, or any other purpose.
Voice input
When you use voice input, your audio is sent to Android's on-device speech recognition service. Writeouts itself never transmits, stores, or processes your audio. What you speak is converted to text on your device before Writeouts sees it.
Analytics and crash reporting
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymised crash reports. This helps us fix bugs. No personally identifiable information is included in crash reports.
Data we do NOT collect
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not share your doubt content with advertisers or third parties (other than the Firebase infrastructure operated by Google).
- We do not sell your data.
Advertising
Writeouts displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to serve and measure ads. Ad content is limited to general-audience (G-rated) material. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent prompt the first time the app runs, where you can choose how your data is used for ads. You can also reset or opt out via your device's Ads settings. See Google's Privacy Policy for details on how AdMob handles data.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore in the asia-south1 (Mumbai) region and is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by Google. We follow Google Firebase's security model; your doubts are only accessible to your own account.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account and all associated doubts at any time from within the app: Profile tab → Delete account.
This permanently removes your data from our servers. If you used the app as a guest and did not sign in, your data is associated with your anonymous session; uninstalling the app will effectively remove access to it.

Children's privacy
Writeouts is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
